Outside fire in Milford claims life of one

MILFORD, Del. – An investigation is underway following a fatal fire in Milford on Wednesday.

Shortly after 1 p.m., firefighters responded to the 3000 block of Big Stone Beach Road for a reported outside fire. Crews arrived at the scene to find a large outdoor fire burning out of control into the woods behind a home. While working to control the blaze, crews found a deceased man in the burned area.

The victim was turned over to the Delaware Division of Forensic Science for identification and cause of death.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. No other injuries were reported, and damage has been estimated at $250.
