Mayor Meehan attends National Hurricane Conference in New Orleans

OCEAN CITY, Md. – Mayor of Ocean City Rick Meehan went to New Orleans for the National Hurricane Conference. The primary goal of the convention is to improve hurricane preparedness, response, and recovery.

Several storms, such as Sandy, Irene, and Cristobal, have significantly impacted Ocean City throughout its history.

Mayor Meehan described the conference as a vital forum to discuss potential options in unpredictable weather.

“It’s important for us to stay up to date on everything happening. Learn what other jurisdictions have experienced from storms that have occurred the last few years. We’re right on the Atlantic Ocean, the city is vulnerable, and we’ve had storms come our way. Being prepared is the most important thing.”

The conference also serves as a national forum to exchange ideas and recommend new policies to improve Emergency Management.
