Local woman organizes school supplies donation drive

WICOMICO COUNTY, Md. – A Wicomico County woman is organizing a school supplies drive.

Kenisha Le’Cole said she has been actively working to bring more unity to the Wicomico County community.

Last winter, she partnered with the Fruitland Police Department to hold a coat drive, and this spring, she’s collaborating with the same agency to collect school supplies.

They’re accepting notebooks, crayons, pencils, and other classroom essentials for schools across the county. Le’Cole said teachers often have to come out of their own pockets for those items, so she’s trying to help alleviate the stress.

“Just knowing that there are friends and family members that need school supplies, that choose not to speak on it, it would just be nice to have a good place and a good time to have some back-to-school supplies dropped off,” said Le’Cole

You can drop your donations off at the department from now until the end of the month.
