Indian River School District announces June funding referendum
DELAWARE – The Indian River School District will host a current expense referendum in June.
The referendum will seek $22.5 million in funding for increased operating costs and to maintain a competitive salary package. With voter approval, the referendum will result in a tax increase of $0.0559 per $100 of assessed property value, which correlates to an increase of $22.40 per month or $268.88 per year for the average district tax payer.
Voter registration is not required to vote in the referendum, but voters will be required to provide proof of identification or residency at each polling place. An individual must live in the Indian River School District to vote, and it must be the person’s primary residence.
The referendum will be held on June 5th from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m. Voters may vote at any of the polling locations, which include East Millsboro Elementary School, Georgetown Elementary School, Indian River High School, Long Neck Methodist Church, Lord Baltimore Elementary School, Millville Community Center, Selbyville Fire Hall, and Sussex Central High School.
