Harrington house fire ruled arson, suspect arrested
HARRINGTON, Del. – A Harrington man has been charged with arson following a house fire investigation.
Shortly before 7:30 p.m. on April 8th, firefighters responded to a reported fire in the 500 block of Fairground Road. Crews arrived at the scene to find a fully involved house fire. The home was not occupied at the time of the fire, and no injuries were reported. The house was deemed a total loss, with damage estimated at $200,000.
State Fire Marshals determined that the fire was intentionally set inside the home, and through further investigation, 64-year-old Karl Bryfogle was identified as the person responsible for starting the blaze.
Bryfogle was arrested on Thursday and charged with second degree arson and second degree burglary. He was held at SCI on a $10,000 secured bond.
