Emerging Leader: Emma Cohn Matthews

WMDT – It’s Monday and that means it’s time to introduce you to a new emerging leader.

Emma Cohn Matthews is an English teacher at Wicomico High School and was recently named the 2025-2026 Wicomico Teacher of the Year.

This morning, she stopped by to tell us more about this great honor and her career in education.

We’re told Matthews has been teaching for over 7 years and is working on her doctorate.

She focuses on building strong relationships with her students and letting them be themselves in her classroom.

Matthews is always trying to grow, improve, and develop more as an educator.

She wants to be the best advocate for her students so they can feel supported.
