Dover man arrested following graffiti investigation

DOVER, Del. – A Dover man has been arrested in connection to a recent graffiti investigation.

At around 10:15 a.m. Sunday, officers were checking the area of Simon Circle, trying to find a suspect in an unrelated complaint, when they were approached by someone who reported that a man was writing in black magic marker on City owned poles and signs. Officers located a man, identified as 28-year-old Isiah Worthy, who matched the witness description. Further investigation revealed that Worthy allegedly defaced a City of Dover electric pole and stop sign in the area of Lincoln Street. It was also learned that Worthy had an outstanding warrant.

Police say the graffiti included references to the KKK, but the context and intent of the reference has not been determined.

Following Worthy’s release, additional graffiti reports of similar style began coming into the Dover Police Department, including the defacing of the marquee sign of one of the Downtown places of worship.

Dover Police believe there may be more victims in this graffiti spree, especially in the downtown area. Anyone with information or who may be a victim is asked to contact Detective Goad at 302-736-7143.

Worthy was released on his own recognizance after being charged with graffiti and possession of graffiti implements.
