Decatur baseball comes from behind to walk off Delmar

BERLIN, Md.- Decatur boys baseball pulled a come from behind victory over Delmar 4-3, Friday evening in Berlin.

Bottom of the 5th, Stephen Decatur’s Spencer Gaylor will get a RBI bringing home Owen Phillips, error off of a play at home also lets Nate Hallman score.

Top of the 6th inning, Delmar’s Mathias Ford will score on a dropped third strike and Colton Ghalthney is safe at first. Robert McCabe will get a RBI as he hits the ball to center field bringing home Blair Davis and Ray Joseph. Wildcats will have the lead going into the 7th inning 3-2.

Bottom of the 7th inning Kolten Zender get a RBI as he hits the ball to short stop, Delmar tries to get a double play trying to make it at first but loses the ball, Johnny Hobgood and Caleb Loring will score.

Head Coach Rich Ferro talks about what happened in the 7th inning for the come from behind victory:

“It was just these guys have the resiliency and experienced playing at Decatur for a couple of years,” Ferro explained. “They know that they wanted to be in that moment and they were just ready to compete. That’s all we ask for. We can’t control the outcome. All we can really control is our effort and the way we go about our business.”

Decatur will continue their win streak to 4 and advance their record to 6-1 on the season.

Stephen Decatur will have a double header against Easton High School at home Mon Apr 7, at 4 pm.
