Arrests made after April 17th shooting in Dover
Dover Del.- Delaware State Police have arrested 18-year-old Leslie McGuire, a 15-year-old male, and a 16-year-old male, all from Dover, in connection with the shooting that occurred April 17th on Nathaniel Mitchell Road in Dover.
On the night of April 17th troopers responded to a report of a shooting on the 1500 block of Nathaniel Mitchell Road. A nineteen-year-old victim was transported to an area hospital for non-life threating injuries. Officers determined that a black male exited a maroon Kia Sportage, fired several rounds at the victim, then fled in the vehicle.
Later that night troopers located a maroon Kia Sportage that had been reported stolen from the 100 block of Barratts Chapel Road in Felton. The vehicle, which matched the description from the shooting, was seen traveling north on Walker Road near Bicentennial Boulevard in Dover. When troopers attempted a traffic stop, the vehicle fled. After a brief pursuit, the Kia stopped in the 400 block of Sorrell Circle in Smyrna, where five occupants fled on foot.
After further investigation on cooperation with the Dover Police Department, detectives identified McGuire, along with a 15-year-old and a 16-year-old male, as the suspects responsible for the April 17th shooting. On April 24, 2025, detectives obtained warrants for their arrests, on the following charges.
- Assault 1st Degree (Felony)
- Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony (Felony)
- Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited (Felony)
- Reckless Endanger First Degree – four counts (Felony)
- Wearing a Disguise During the Commission of a Felony (Felony)
- Criminal Mischief $5000 or More (Felony)
- Conspiracy Second Degree (Felony)
- Criminal Mischief $1000 but less than $5000 – two counts
