Additional suspect arrested in Seaford homicide
SEAFORD, Del. – A Blades man has been arrested as the second suspect in the fatal shooting of a man in Seaford last month.
The incident took place during the afternoon hours of March 12th at Nutter Park. When officers arrived at the scene, they found 23-year-old Schweitzer Dessin suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. He was taken to a nearby hospital, where he died from his injuries. Two other men went to an area hospital with non-life-threatening gunshot wounds, and a 23-year-old man went to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries related to the shooting.
Detectives identified Johnathan Dugazon as a suspect and obtained a warrant for his arrest. He was subsequently arrested on March 24th.
Further investigation led detectives to identify 22-year-old Jamal Riddick as the second suspect in the homicide. He was arrested during a search warrant on Tuesday at a residence in the 800 block of South Market Street in Blades. During the search, police reportedly found an AR style rifle and firearm ammunition in a room occupied by 20-year-old Dimere Riddick, who is a convicted felon prohibited from possessing firearms. He was also taken into custody.
Jamal was charged with first degree murder, 17 counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, 17 counts of first degree reckless endangering, and carrying a concealed deadly weapon. He was held at SCI on a $1.34 million cash bond.
Dimere was charged with possession of a firearm by a person prohibited, two counts of possession of ammunition by a person prohibited, and possession of a high-capacity magazine during the commission of a felony. He was held at SCI on an $80,000 secured bond.
