Wicomico Co. Health Dept. bringing back DUI program
WICOMICO COUNTY, Md. – The Wicomico County Health Department is working to support those struggling with alcoholism.
It’s hosting an annual 6-week DUI education class, where they’ll focus on the scope of drinking, how alcohol affects the body and other topics.
The program was launched back in 2019 to give folks that extra bit of support, and now 6 years strong, Dr. Cynthia Calixte said this group will help uplift those in need.
“It really shines a light to somebody’s problem. Alcoholism is a disease, and especially for folks driving under the influence, they’re not only putting themselves at risk, but other people in the community at risk, so this is our initial attempt to try to get folks to change their behaviors,” said Dr. Calixte.
