Virginia man arrested on assault charges in Rehoboth Beach
REHOBOTH BEACH, Del. – Delaware State Police say they arrested a Virginia man on assault charges over the weekend.
At around 9 a.m. Saturday, troopers were called to the area of Popeye’s on Coastal Highway for a report of noise from a protest. While troopers were talking to several people, they learned that an assault had taken place in the parking lot. The subsequent investigation revealed that a 65-year-old man was assaulted by the suspect, later identified as 30-year-old Charles Gehman, following an argument about traffic and parking in the parking lot. The victim reportedly suffered minor injuries, and Gehman left the area in a gray Toyota Corolla with Virginia registration.
Troopers found Gehman a short time later and arrested him for second degree assault causing an injury to a person over 62. He was later released on a $4,000 unsecured bond.
