Vehicles for Change Delmarva awards cars to 3 families
SALISBURY, Md. – Vehicles for Change awarded 3 families with cars. The group actively finds individuals in need of transportation. Some of these people find themselves in bad situations and come from poverty.
Today, they awarded the families with Hondas, two of which were donated by Pohanka of Salisbury for this event. Two of the recipients had previously been incarcerated, and one is a mother of 2.
Executive Director Gary Mitchell said he loves giving back to the community. “These are becoming neighbors of everybody, and now they are a light of hope for the ones that come behind them. These programs make them a head of household.”
President Marty Schwartz started the non-profit want to break the wealth gap in the area.
“Most people know that if you live on the shore, it is almost impossible to get to work or get to after-school activities. It is the one tool that will help families escape generational poverty.”
