Senator Chris Coons issues statement after Trump’s address to Congress
DELAWARE – U.S. Senator Chris Coons issued a statement last night after President Trump delivered his address to a Joint Session of Congress.
The statement is as follows:
“Instead of focusing on how he plans to solve the tough challenges facing our country, tonight President Trump repeated bizarre campaign promises, like retaking the Panama Canal and invading Greenland. The American people tuned in hoping for answers about how he’d tackle inflation in the wake of his tariffs pushing prices higher, how he’d stop the rapid spread of diseases like measles and bird flu despite firing the scientists and experts working on the front lines, how he’d keep Americans safe from global threats even as he pulls away from our partners and allies. Unfortunately, if you watched this speech looking for a way out of the crises President Trump has made worse, you came away disappointed.”
“Right now, President Trump is one of the least popular presidents after one month in office in modern history. After tonight’s speech, that trend will continue.”
