The ACLU of Delaware urging colleges across the state to reject Trump’s censorship policy

DELAWARE – March 6th, an open letter, ACLU of Delaware urged the Universities and Colleges across the state to reject the Trump administration’s attempted censorship.

This comes after numerous executive orders and statements released by the White House that they deem to be “putting students’ educations and futures at risk.” They believe the First Amendment should be protected and President Trump is violating that by trampling in civil and privacy rights, and threats should intimidate them.

ACLU-DE President Mike Brickner said released “Know Your Rights” materials specifically for immigrant students and families earlier this year in anticipation of situations such as this one.

“Any international student, he says, who is engaging in illegal protest, that he is going to make sure they get “rounded up and deported from the country”– Which is just absolutely horrible and egregiously unconstitutional… People in this county, whether they are U.S. citizens or not, have 1st amendment rights, and they can express their political beliefs.”

Bricker goes on to say the schools are being threatened with loss of funding if they don’t implement those new policies. The ACLU of Delaware says you can find the Know Your Rights material and other resources on their website.
