Quantico home destroyed in late night fire

QUANTICO, Md. – A fire destroyed a Wicomico County home late Tuesday night.

According to officials, firefighters responded to 23848 River Street in Quantico at around 11:30 p.m. Crews battled the blaze for roughly two hours before bringing it under control.

Maryland State Fire Marshals are investigating the cause of the fire, which began inside the home. The home was not occupied at the time of the fire, and was reportedly under renovation, including refinishing the hardwood floors using linseed oil.

Total damage has been estimated at $350,000.
