Police chase through Salisbury leads to arrest
SALISBURY, Md. – A Salisbury man is behind bars following a police chase last week.
On March 4th, law enforcement was conducting proactive enforcement in the Priscilla Street area when they reportedly saw a black Nissan committing multiple traffic violations, including running several stop signs and driving recklessly. Officers tried to stop the vehicle, but the driver fled.
The driver tried to turn left onto Delaware Avenue when he allegedly lost control, hit a curb, and deployed the vehicle’s airbags, and the front passenger side tire was deemed inoperable. As officers approached, the driver, identified as Lavoya Neal Jr., had already fled on foot toward Price Road.
Inside the vehicle, officers reportedly found an adult woman and an infant, neither of whom were injured. Police say the infant was in a car seat, however, it was determined that the car seat was resting on the back seat and was not properly secured.
Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office Deputies and Salisbury Police Officers established a perimeter to search for Neal, but did not find him. A K-9 scan of the vehicle was conducted, leading police to find the suspect’s wallet, cell phone, and 1,015.57 grams of marijuana.
Charges were obtained against Neal, who was served on Monday and released to the Wicomico County Detention Center.
