Pair of juveniles arrested for burglary in Cambridge
CAMBRIDGE, Md. – Cambridge Police say two juveniles were arrested following a burglary late last month.
Just after 5 p.m. on February 26th, police were called to the 300 block of Somerset Avenue for a reported burglary. The victim told police their home was broken into during the day, and two shotguns and a jacket were stolen. Detectives found two suspects captured on camera entering the home at around 10:30 a.m. The suspects were also located on additional City cameras reportedly wearing the stolen jacket.
The suspects were identified as two 15-year-old males. The victim additionally told police that the suspects had been to his home in November 2024 asking to do yard work, and again in January asking to shovel snow. Police say the same juveniles were recently involved in thefts where they would go around to homes asking to perform yard work.
The following day, at around 12:45 p.m., detectives were conducting surveillance when they found both suspects in the area of ZipMart in the 400 block of High Street. The pair were taken into custody, and police responded to a residence in the 400 block of Skinners Court that was identified as the home of one of the suspects. A parent/guardian allowed officers to enter the residence, leading them to find the stolen jacket.
After obtaining a search and seizure warrant for the home, police reportedly found five boxes of .223 caliber rifle rounds, a bond of 410 shotgun shells, one Remington 870 shotgun that was reported stolen in the burglary, one H&R shotgun that was reported stolen in the burglary, and a .22 caliber AR-15 rifle.
The juveniles were subsequently charged with first and third degree burglary, fourth degree burglary: theft, wear and carry dangerous weapon, and theft $100 to under $1500.
