National Vietnam War Veterans Day

DELAWARE – in 2017 President Donald Trump signed the National Vietnam War Veterans Day Act, in honor of March 29, 1973, when the combat unit withdrew from South Vietnam.

During the Vietnam War time frame, many chose to serve their country, and others were drafted for service. In all, more than nine million Americans served on active duty from November 1, 1955, to May 15, 1975, regardless of location. Veterans who returned to the United States weren’t always treated with respect, and nearly 60,000 lost their lives- never to return.

Retired Air Force Staff Sergeant Greg Bee spent 20 years in the military and is currently the Cemetery Superintendent at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Millsboro. He says if they aren’t honored in life, he will help honor them in death.

“If you haven’t pre-applied, get your 214 together, honorably discharged, active-duty veterans, residents of Delaware if you’re National Guard or reserve, and you’re retired from the Guard or Reserve, bring your retirement letter in if you qualify.”

He says it’s a simple process you should get done now.  So, if you or someone you know would like more information to visit their website.
