Man convicted of charges stemming from 2022 Laurel bank robbery
DELAWARE – A man arrested in connection to a 2022 bank robbery has been found guilty following a two-day jury trial.
The incident happened on June 24, 2022, at the Bank of Delmarva in Laurel. According to evidence and witness testimony, 52-year-old Justin Cabot, walked into the bank wearing a bright yellow shirt and handed the bank teller a demand note. He then allegedly made threatening statements, telling the teller to “use big bills” and to “hurry up”. The teller complied with Cabot’s demands and filled a bag Cabot tossed at him with money and a GPS tracking device.
Cabot was seen on surveillance footage from nearby businesses leaving the area of the bank and removing the yellow shirt. Cabot was arrested in Salisbury five days later.
Cabot faces a maximum of 20 years in prison.
