Long legal battle between Wicomico Co. Council and Co. Exec. comes to an end, Thursday
WICOMICO COUNTY, Md. – Wicomico County executive, Julie Giordano reacted to a recent decision from the Appellate Court of Maryland.
The court ruled in favor of the Wicomico County Council, saying that Girodano did not follow proper procedure in hiring Matthew Leitzel. This comes after a nearly two-year legal battle between the council and Giordano about the appointment of an Assistant Director of Administration.
Giordano told WMDT it has been a long time coming with this case, but she is content with the ruling and does not plan to challenge it.
“Whatever ruling came out of the local court, we were OK with,” said Giordano. “If we had lost it back then, we would have completely moved on. The council said they would do the same, obviously that’s not what they did, they moved forward with the Appellate Court decision, but we will not pursue any further.”
Giordano added the Assistant Director of Administration position will be open as of Friday.
