Knupp family filing civil lawsuit against Tyler Mailloux

Pending Civil Suit

WORCESTER COUNTY, Md. – Unhappy with the Judge’s decision in Tyler Mailloux’s sentencing, Knupp family attorney, Neil Dubovsky said the Mailloux’s can expect to see them back in court, in the near future.

In court Wednesday, there was back and forth about whether Mailloux was at fault for the hit and run that killed Gavin Knupp on July 11th, 2022.

On February 25th, Mailloux pleaded guilty to “Failure to remain at the scene of an accident resulting in death”, one out of 17 various misdemeanors and felonies he previously faced.

Dubovsky said the Knupp family is preparing to file a civil suit for what they said is his direct involvement in their son’s death.

“Everybody seems to have acknowledged, or agreed, that Tyler wasn’t at fault for the accident. What he was charged with is what happened after the accident, going forward,” said Dubovsky.

“I would just note that the family absolutely do not agree with that assessment. We absolutely believe that Tyler was at fault for this accident, and there will be additional accountability coming through a civil lawsuit against Tyler, for those actions.”

Dubovsky did not say if the suit would be filed against Mailloux or his entire family.
