Inmate death under investigation at ECI

WESTOVER, Md. – Maryland State Police are investigating an inmate death at a state prison in Somerset County.

Police say 28-year-old Shane Lanham was pronounced dead on Saturday at the Eastern Correctional Institute in Westover.

Preliminary investigation revealed that Lanham was in a cell with another inmate before reportedly being found lying on the ground, unresponsive. A suspect has been identified but has not been charged at this time, as the investigation is ongoing.
