Fruitland house fire ruled accidental
FRUITLAND, Md. – Maryland State Fire Marshals say a house fire in Fruitland Tuesday afternoon has been deemed accidental.
We’re told the fire was reported at around 12:40 p.m. at a home in the 100 block of Moore Avenue. Crews were able to quickly extinguish the blaze, which was determined to have started in the garage ceiling. Fire investigators say the blaze was caused by the failure of an electrical branch circuit.
One firefighter was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of a minor heat related illness.
Total damage has been estimated at $150,000. The occupants are being helped by the American Red Cross.
