UPDATE: Crash in Felton leaves one dead

UPDATE: Delaware State Police have identified the victim as 33-year-old Robert Hawkins.

FELTON, Del. — Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred Tuesday morning on Canterbury Road.

At around 9:01 a.m., a southbound Ford Fusion collided with a northbound Toyota Camry attempting to turn onto Roesville Road. After hitting the Camry, the Fusion struck a Mazda CX-5, which rolled into a drainage ditch.

The 33-year-old driver of the Fusion, from Dover, was unrestrained and pronounced dead at the scene. His name is being withheld pending family notification. The 28-year-old driver of the Mazda, from Felton, was hospitalized with serious injuries, while the 70-year-old driver of the Camry, also from Felton, was uninjured.

The crash shut down the roadway for about 4.5 hours for investigation and cleanup.
