Delaware State Police and Seaford Police are investigating a homicide

SEAFORD, Del. – Delaware State Police are investigating a homicide that occurred yesterday at a park in Seaford, according to Master Corporal Lewis Briggs. “On March 12th, around 4:24 p.m., Seaford Police Department and Delaware State Police responded to Nutter Park on Collins Avenue, within the city limits of Seaford, for a report of a shooting. When officers arrived, they found a 23-year-old man suffering from an apparent gunshot wound and began life-saving efforts.”

Unfortunately, the 23-year-old man had not been identified. He was taken to a nearby hospital and died from those wounds. Briggs said 2 others were shot as well. “2 other men self-transported to an area hospital for non-life-threatening gunshot wounds. Another man also self-transported for injuries related to the shooting.”

Due to the severity of the incident, the Seaford Police requested the DSP Homicide Unit to take over the investigation. “The preliminary investigation has revealed that during a large fight, unidentified suspects fired multiple shots at the victim.”

This is an active investigation, and police are asking for help. “We’re asking anyone who has information or witnessed the incident to contact the Delaware State Police Homicide Unit.”

Anyone with information can call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-847-3333.
