Decatur boy’s basketball outlasts Arundel to advance to 3A regional final

BERLIN, Md. – Stephen Decatur boy’s basketball took down the Arundel Wildcats to advance to the 3A regional finals on Tuesday night.

Arundel jumped out early with strong shooting, leading 15-12 after the 1st quarter. The Seahawks fought back in the 2nd, with the teams heading into halftime tied at 26.

Decatur dominated the 3rd quarter, outscoring the Wildcats by 8 to head into the final period with a 42-34 lead.

Arundel rallied late on the back of 12 4th-quarter-points from Ellis Johnson, including a three to take a 47-46 lead with just over a minute to play.

The following Seahawks possession saw multiple misses on long jumpers and multiple offensive rebounds for Decatur. Judah Carmack collected the final loose ball and hit a shot from the free throw line to put Stephen Decatur ahead for the final time. They win by a final score of 51-47.

The Seahawks advance to the 3A regional finals where they will host South River on Thursday.
