BREAKING: Tyler Mailloux sentenced to 18 months for hit-and-run death of Gavin Knupp
WORCESTER CO., Md. – The man convicted of killing Gavin Knupp in a 2022 hit-and-run was sentenced in a Worcester County courtroom on Wednesday.
24-year-old Tyler Mailloux was sentenced to a total of ten years with all but 18 months suspended, meaning he will serve an active sentence of 18 months in jail, with no possibility of early parole. His sentence began on February 25th. He will be placed on three years of supervised probation on release. Mailloux was also ordered to attend a driver improvement program, victim impact panel meeting, and perform 400 hours of community service.
Mailloux pleaded guilty in late February to a single charge of failing to stop at the scene of a fatal hit-and-run accident.
12-year-old Gavin Knupp was hit and killed in July 2022 on Gray’s Corner Road in Berlin.
