10th Annual Women’s Businesses Conference
MARYLAND – In Wicomico County, the 10th annual Women’s Business Conference was held at the Civic Center and there were many ways Wicomico supported their local women.
From health and wellness to human resources, The Maryland Capital Enterprises Women’s Business Conference has a lot to offer. About 140 businesses and attendees came out early Friday morning to network at the Women’s Business Conference.
Empowering Entrepreneurs
Director of the Women’s Business Center at Maryland Capital Enterprises, Lisa Twilley says for the past decade they’ve empowered business-minded women.
“It’s always been more of “A Man’s World” but now today, there’s so many more women starting businesses…We help aspiring entrepreneurs or existing entrepreneurs get started in business or expand their business… We do business training, business consulting, marketing consulting, and small business loans.”
Rest & Relaxation
Health and Wellness was a big focus at the event, from facial care to hair products, even few healthy treats. Ocean Elements Salt Spa and Float Center is a holistic healing center in Ocean City. Chief Relaxation Officer Jeanne Mills says women do so much and they have to take time to unwind.
“So, we have sensory deprivation tanks, we have a salt room, we have sauna, we have massage, we have Brain Tap- which is guided meditations… We need to make sure we’re fulfilling our own health care needs, by being relaxed so we can make good decisions, and be successful.”
Tax Time
Resources at the conference ranged anywhere from finance to recovery. Maryland Office of the Comptroller, Regional Public Engagement Officer Mary Handley says people have to tap in.
“There are 12 satellite offices around the state open all year round where for free anyone, no matter what their income, can go in and have a consultation with the tax preparers of the Comptroller’s Office. They can also get their state income taxes done for free.”
Set up for Success
Twilley hope the attendees and entrepreneurs use this opportunity to succeed, and the conference is just the opportunity to grow. “I’m hoping they leave feeling refreshed, encouraged, and just recharged in their business and their professional development…”
And they say- they can’t wait to be right here again next year. For more information on Maryland Capital Enterprises, visit their website.
