Wicomico Public Library looking for volunteers for their ‘Project Read’ program

SALISBURY, Md. – The Wicomico Public Library is looking for tutors to help with their Project Read Program. 17,000 Wicomico County residents read below a 3rd-grade level.

Free, confidential, one-on-one tutoring sessions help adults improve their literacy through this program. Sessions are twice a week for only 90 minutes each.

Community Support Manager Christi Richardson told WMDT that more volunteers would take the program to the next level.

“We have 22 learners right now; we have 6 wait-listed because we need more tutors. Volunteers come in person, meet in the meeting room for free, and start at whatever level your person is at.”
