Wicomico Library to honor local leader’s legacy
WICOMICO COUNTY, Md. – The Wicomico County Public Library is honoring the legacy of a local historic leader.
Next month, the library will be spotlighting Vivian Elzie Taylor, an educator from Wicomico County who also served on the 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion during WWII.
Julia Hughey with the library said this event will kick off a long-term program that the library plans to host, to highlight other local leaders from the shore, like Taylor.
“There are people who contribute that have never been identified, and we want to bring that to the forefront,” said Hughey. “It’s not to cast out negative opinions on others; these people were here, they did a job, lets recognize them.”
