Wicomico Co. Council addresses recent inquiries involving councilman

Wicomico County

WICOMICO CO., Md. – The Wicomico County Council is acknowledging inquiries involving Councilman Shane Baker and legal proceedings stemming from two peace orders recently filed against him.

Officials say the court has dismissed both cases, ruling that they did not meet the criteria of a peace order and citing that there is “no statutory evidence for relief.”

Councilmembers say public discourse has prompted questions regarding Baker’s position on the Council, however, there are no legal grounds necessitating his resignation. They say the allegations brought against him did not pertain to any Charter violations. It is also alleged that Councilman Baker may have been “unfairly targeted due to his efforts to hold certain individuals accountable in his role as a public servant,” according to the council.
