Weather Tidbits: Clearing Snow out of Storm Drains

In this edition of Weather Tidbits, we’ll be discussing the importance of clearing out the snow from storm drains along the street. Clearing out the storm drains can make for a few benefits that are worth considering. One of these benefits is that there will be less standing water on the street. When the storm drain is cleared of snow, water can properly flow down the drain. This can mitigate street flooding issues. Secondly, this will create less ice problems on the road. Standing water will freeze on the road surface when temperatures drop below freezing, which can become a driving hazard. Finally, this allow for faster melting of the snow.
