UPDATE: Arrest made in Denton shooting

1280 Alfred Harris

DENTON, Md. – The Caroline County Sheriff’s Office says they have arrested a suspect in connection to last week’s shooting that left two injured.

Shortly after midnight on February 6th, officers responded to 28025 Ruritan Road for a reported shooting. At the scene, they found a 71-year-old man suffering from gunshot injuries to his head and back, as well as a 68-year-old man, identified as Alfred Harris, who was suffering from a compound fracture of his left ankle.

Both victims were taken to Kent General Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Further investigation led police to pursue criminal charges against Harris, who was taken into custody following his release from the hospital. He was extradited back to Caroline County on Monday, where he was charged with attempted second degree murder, first and second degree assault, possession of a shotgun following a conviction for a disqualifying crime, reckless endangerment, and intoxicated endangerment.

Harris was held without bond.
