UMES to hold annual HBCU Quiz Bowl

Honda Campus All- Star Challenge

PRINCESS ANNE, Md. – The University of Maryland Eastern Shore is holding its annual HBCU quiz bowl in honor of Black History Month.

The Honda Campus All-Star Challenge will include schools such as Bowie State and Howard University, with other students traveling from as far as Chicago to compete. Organizers say there will be chances to win money for scholarships and make professional connections.

UMES Director of Public Relations Earl Holland Jr. says it is an innovative way to engage and educate. “There’s a reason people have trivia night. People love to show off what they know, their knowledge, things like that…”

Holland goes on to say, “It is an HBCU version of Team Jeopardy. It basically a battle for wits, knowledge, all different categories- Black history, literature, culture, pop culture art music, anything you can think of under the sun.”

The event will take place Saturday, February 22nd at UMES from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm in the Student Service Center located at 30665 Student Services Center, Princess Anne, MD 21853.
