UMES showing Black films all month long

PRINCESS ANNE, Md. – Down in Princess Anne, the University of Maryland Eastern Shore is commemorating Black History Month with a film series.

UMES will be showing films every Tuesday and Saturday this month, aiming to educate the community on different aspects of Black culture. Some of the flicks on deck include Akeelah and the Bee and Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner.

Event coordinator, Robert Vickers said there’s something to be learned from each film and they hope to continue the showings well past February.

“These are opportunities for us to showcase Black talent, that certainly our students may or may not know,” said Vickers.

Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner will be screened next Tuesday at 5:30pm in the Student Service Center Theatre.
