UMES gearing up for BHM lecture

PRINCESS ANNE, Md. – Want to learn more about Black History Month? The University of Maryland Eastern Shore has you covered.

On February 19th, renowned author, speaker and cultural critic, Dr. Michael Eric Dyson will hit the stage at UMES.

He will speak about Black history and the triumphs of the Black Community. University officials are calling on the community to join them in this this free event.

“The story of Black history in America is really a triumphant story of overcoming obstacles; an uplifting story, and I think it’s encouraging to people of all backgrounds,” said Robert Vickers.

The lecture will kick off at noon at the Ella Fitzgerald Performing Arts Center.
