Two injured in Seaford house fire

SEAFORD, Del. – Delaware State Fire Marshals are investigating a Seaford house fire that left two people injured Thursday evening.

Shortly before 8 p.m., fire crews responded to the 6000 block of Grist Lane for a reported house fire. The Blades Volunteer Fire Company, Seaford Fire Department, and additional assisting mutual aid fire companies all responded to the blaze. The home was occupied at the time, and the occupants were able to escape with help from neighbors.

A female victim was reportedly taken to TidalHealth Nanticoke for treatment of minor injuries, while a male victim was flown to Christiana Care Christiana Hospital with serious injuries.

The cause of the fire, which began on the first floor of the home, remains under investigation. Damage has been estimated at $500,000.
