Threat leads to firearm charges for pair in Wicomico Co.

Hornsby Lofland

SALISBURY, Md. – Police charged three people, including one juvenile, with firearm possession charges over the weekend in Wicomico County.

Just before 6 p.m. Saturday, Wicomico County Sheriff’s Deputies were called to a home in the 100 block of Onley Road for a complaint of a threat with a firearm. Deputies met with the residents, who were hosting a party when a small group of subjects no one knew allegedly arrived at the party, acting suspiciously. It was noted that two individuals appeared to be concealing handguns on their persons. Police say the suspicious group was eventually asked to leave the party, at which time two of them allegedly yelled to partygoers that they were going to come back and shoot all of them.

Deputies were able to locate the suspect vehicle a short distance away and identified two of the suspects as 20-year-old Nathaniel Hornsby and 21-year-old Leon Lofland IV. The pair matched the description of the suspects previously seen carrying handguns.

Further investigation revealed that Lofland was in possession of a handgun with an extended magazine that was later determined to have been stolen from the Hampton, Virginia area. Hornsby was also found to be in possession of a handgun with an extended magazine. Neither one reportedly had a valid permit to carry a firearm, and Hornsby was prohibited from possessing regulated firearms due to his age.

Hornsby was charged with possession of a regulated firearm under 21 and two counts of knowingly transporting a loaded handgun in a vehicle on a public roadway. Lofland was charged with illegal possession of a firearm and two counts of knowingly transporting a loaded handgun in a vehicle on a public roadway.

Additionally, a 15-year-old male juvenile was found in the car and charged with possession of less than 10 grams of marijuana by a person under the age of 21.
