Suspect in high-speed chase through Talbot Co. served with criminal summons

TALBOT CO., Md. – The Talbot County Sheriff’s Office says the suspect involved in a November high-speed chase has been served with a criminal summons.

The incident happened at around 3:45 a.m. on November 10, 2024, on Route 50 near Howell Point Cutoff Road. Deputies were conducting traffic enforcement in the area when they saw a Mercedes SUV driving over 110 miles per hour. Deputies tried to stop the vehicle, but the driver, later identified as 18-year-old Dariusz Hentz, refused to stop and continuing fleeing. The chase continued through Trappe and into Eqaston, where Hentz allegedly ignored traffic laws, disregarded public and law enforcement safety, and engaged in dangerous maneuvers in an attempt to evade police.

Deputies decided to discontinue to chase due to the public safety threat. Further investigation led police to identify Hentz as the driver, and a criminal summons was issued on January 28th, charging him with obstructing and hindering a police officer, fleeing and eluding a police officer, reckless driving, speeding, and additional related charges.

Hentz was served with the summons last week by the Prince George’s County Sheriff’s Office.
