State of Emergency issued for Dorchester Co.
DORCHESTER CO., Md. – Dorchester County has issued a State of Emergency due to the impending winter storm.
During this emergency period, the use, operation, driving, and parking of vehicles on county roads and streets will be impacted:
- It’s unlawful to park a vehicle on a county road or street during the time a snow emergency declaration is in effect
- The Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office has the authority to take possession of, issue citations for removal, tow away and impound any vehicle parked, stalled, incapable of proceeding under its own power or left unattended on any county road or street while a snow emergency is in effect
- Before the owner may obtain possession of such vehicle, they shall pay the cost of removing the vehicle and any storage charges
- It’s unlawful for any person to operate a vehicle on any county road or street while a snow emergency is in effect without chains or adequate snow times on two-wheel drive vehicles should such vehicle become stalled or incapable of proceeding under its own power.
Any person found violating the provisions of this snow emergency declaration could be found guilty of a misdemeanor and subject to a fine of no more than $500.
