Sarah McBride slams Trump Admin. over funding freeze that’s impacting Delaware farmers
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Delaware Congresswoman Sarah McBride took to the floor of the House to slam the Trump administration’s actions that she says have led to an unpredictable environment for Delaware farmers.
McBride says the administration illegally froze funding from the bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act and the Inflation Reduction Act, including vital resources that run through the U.S. Department of Agriculture. And as a result, McBride says it froze programs that purchase products from Delaware farmers.
Currently, according to McBride, the federal government is withholding nearly $10 million owed to Delaware farmers to improve their infrastructure and lower their energy bills.
“All of this has resulted in higher costs for farmers and higher prices at the grocery store for Americans,” McBride said on the floor of the U.S. House. “I will stand here in opposition to any executive or legislative action that puts our farmers at risk. Because when we fail farmers, we fail all Americans.”
McBride also spoke about Delaware’s enormous chicken industry and how the bird flu has posed a massive risk to local farmers, who she vowed to continue to fight for on Capitol Hill.
