Head-on crash claims life of one in Selbyville

SELBYVILLE, Del. – Delaware State Police say an investigation is underway following a fatal head-on crash Wednesday afternoon in Selbyville.

According to police, the crash happened at around 2:45 p.m. Preliminary investigation revealed that a Jeep Gladiator was driving southbound on Hudson Road, north of Lynch Road, at the same time a Freightliner tractor was driving northbound on Hudson Road. For unknown reasons, the Jeep reportedly crossed into the northbound lane, directly into the path of the tractor, subsequently colliding head-on.

The driver of the Jeep, a 60-year-old Selbyville man, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the tractor, a 60-year-old Dover man, was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
