Fire at Queen Anne’s Co. SHA facility under investigation

CENTREVILLE, Md. – Maryland State Fire Marshals are investigating a fire at a Maryland State Highway Administration facility in Queen Anne’s County Thursday evening.

At around 7:30 p.m., firefighters responded to the facility, located at 111 Safety Drive in Centreville. Crews found heavy fire coming from multiple vehicles, including the storage garage where they were located. The fire was upgraded to two alarms, and officials say it took an hour and a half and nearly 50 firefighters to control the blaze.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, but officials say there is no evidence of a criminal act at this time.

No injuries were reported. Total damage has been estimated at $800,000, which includes structure, contents, vehicles, and related machinery.
