Black History Month: Black women seeking higher education on the rise

DELMARVA. – A local history expert weighed in on the importance of education for Black women.

Black women are the most educated demographic in America, a statistic that history professor with Delaware State University, Anton House said speaks to the resilience of the community.

He added, as more Black women continue to seek higher education, they’ll be stepping into fields in need of Black representation, like STEM, education and law.

“For many parents, sending their daughters off to these HBCUs or sending them off to the schools in the North, that has been a long tradition in African American history,” said House.
