Two weekend fires at Easton YMCA under investigation
EASTON, Md. – Maryland State Fire Marshals are investigating two separate fires at the Easton YMCA over the weekend.
Firefighters responded to the first fire at around 12:30 p.m. Saturday. It was determined that the fire started when a subject(s) ignited a small pile of party supplies inside the second floor rear storage hallway. The fire was contained by the building sprinkler system. Total damage was estimated at $20,000.
Just after 5:30 p.m. that same day, firefighters were called to the location again for a second reported fire. In this incident, investigators say the fire started as the result of a mechanical failure of the air handler on the roof. Total damage in this fire was estimated at $30,000.
The two fires were not related.
