Weather Tidbits: The Weight of Different Types of Snow

This edition of Weather Tidbits will be discussing the weight of different types of snow. For 12 inches of snow per 1,500 square feet, fluffy snow with a 15:1 snow to liquid ratio will weigh 6,240 pounds, the same as a pickup truck. Normal snow with a 10:1 snow to liquid ratio would weigh 9,360 pounds, the same as two pickup trucks. Wet snow would weigh 19,872 pounds, the same as 3 pickup trucks. For 24 inches of snow per 1,500 square feet, fluffy snow would weigh 12,480 pounds, the same as two pickup trucks. Normal snow would weigh 18,720 pounds, the same as 3 pickup trucks. And wet snow would weigh 37,440 pounds, the same as 6 pickup trucks.
