Virginia State Police report over 400 road incidents on Saturday; urge caution

VIRGINIA – Virginia State Police is warning drivers about taking to the roads to soon after the area’s second round of snow.

The agency reports that between midnight and noon on Saturday, there were over 400 incidents responded to on Virginia roads, with near 100 crashes.

Division 5 (Chesapeake) of the Virginia State Police alone responded to 37 crashes.

Officials say that if you do have to drive on Saturday, to keep these points in mind:

  • Use headlights.
  • Slow your speed.
  • Don’t tailgate.
  • Buckle Up.
  • Check Your Vehicle.
  • Don’t leave home without a window scraper, blanket, bottled water, snack, cell phone charger and flashlight.
