Traffic stop in Seaford leads to gun and drug arrest

SEAFORD, Del.,- Delaware State Police have arrested 19-year-old Asjmeir Fiorentino for gun and drug charges following a traffic stop in Seaford.
On January 15th at 12;31pm members of the Sussex County Governors Task Force were patrolling Concord Road near Tranquill Boulevard when they saw a Ford Edge traveling westbound on Concord Road with a registration violation.
Detectives pulled over the vehicle and spoke with the diver identified as Fiorentino, during the stop police learned that Fiorentino didn’t have a valid driver’s license.
During the stop, police said that they smelled an odor of burnt marijuana coming from the vehicle and saw a marijuana cigar on a can in the center cup holder.
Fiorentino was taken into custody, and during a search of the vehicle, police discovered: a Polymer 9mm handgun, extended round magazine, multiple rounds of 9mm ammunition , approximately 1.62 grams of crack cocaine, approximately 1.66 grams of marijuana, and, drug paraphernalia.
Fiorentino was taken to Troop 4, where he was charged with: Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon – Firearm (Felony), Possession of an Untraceable Firearm (Felony), Possession of a Deadly Weapon by a Person Prohibited who also Possesses a Controlled Substance (Felony), Possession of a Large Capacity Magazine During the Commission of a Felony (Felony), Possession of a Controlled Substance without a Prescription (Felony), Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Driving without a Valid License, Fictitious or Cancelled Registration, and Possession of Personal Use Marijuana by a Person under 21.
Fiorentino was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $44,403 cash bond.
