The Bethany Fenwick Chamber promotes more community engagement with drinking kickoff event for Fire & Ice Festival
BETHANY BEACH, DE. – In the winter, the Bethany Fenwick Chamber of Commerce promotes more community engagement. The town hosted a drink competition for the community to prepare for the upcoming Fire & Ice Festival later in January.
Commerce Executive Director Lauren Weaver, said this has been a successful starting event every year. “Last year, we raised around $40,000 for 7 charities. This is just a kickoff, it’s a nice way to get the restaurants involved ahead of time. That way come festival weekend, when we have 20,000 people in town, they are prepared and ready.”
The drinking event named ‘A Weekend for the Books’ and held at Mango’s. Local bartenders were judged based on their most creative and tastiest cocktail drinks. Mango’s Owner Alex Heidenberger loves hosting events like this to keep people invested in Bethany Beach.
“The Fire and Ice event that has changed the off-season community here for the better. Bethany Beach and Fenwick have become a 365-day-a-year place to live.”
Many restaurants participated, including Bethany Blues, Hooked Up, and Vista Rooftop. Tequila, vodka, and whiskey were the categories. Banks Wine and Spirits supplied the alcohol.
Sponsor Jamie Hayman understands the importance of engagement.
“The event is fantastic, the Fire and Ice and the chamber draw in a crowd in the off-season is exactly what we need to help promote our small local businesses when they need it the most.”
The 2025 Fire & Ice Festival is January 31st through February 2nd
